The CHS Group Board and Executive team are made up of experienced individuals with extensive knowledge of the different elements of housing provision, management and social enterprise

Nicola Scrivings

CHS Group Chair

Nicola was appointed Chair in April 2013.  She also chairs the HR Committee.

Nicola originally trained in marketing and has held a number of Director level roles within Royal Mail.

She is also chairs Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust, which delivers adult social care for the County Council and on the Board of Cambridge Cyrenians, which provides services and housing for homeless people.


Nigel Howlett

Chief Executive

Nigel has worked in social housing in and around Cambridge for more than 20 years.  He became CHS Chief Executive in 2000 and since then has geared up CHS to be able to play a major role in Cambridgeshire supporting people who are vulnerable or on low incomes or with few skills.   

Nigel is a member of the Cambridge sub-regional Housing Board, which co-ordinates housing strategy across the sub-region, sits on the sub-regional RSL Forum and on the steering group for the Cambridgeshire Renewables Infrastructure Framework (CRIF).

Sharon Allen OBE

Operations Committee Chair

Sharon was appointed to the Board in 2013 and also sits on the HR Committee.  She is an experienced supported housing and social care professional, having spent most of her career in the not-for-profit sector. She is currently CEO of Skills for Care, an organisation that ensures that England's adult social care workforce has the appropriately skilled people in the right places working to deliver high quality social care. Sharon was previously CEO of St Anne’s Community Services and a Director at Shelter.  Sharon was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honour Awards 2015 for services to social care, homeless people and housing. 


Nick Brown

Board member

Nick was appointed to the Board in 2016 and sits on the New Business & Development Committee.  He runs a family-owned local property investment and development company and has a background in sales, accountancy and land economy.

Carole Herries

Board member

Carole was appointed to the Board in 2013 and sits on the Operations and the Finance & Audit Committees.  She has worked in local government for over 30 years and has extensive experience in housing, including housing management, strategic housing and development and community development and has been a lead officer on Children’s issues.  Most recently, she was Head of Environmental Health & Housing at St Edmundsbury Borough Council. She is currently a Housing Consultant, and a Board Member for the Chartered Institute of Housing Eastern Branch. 

Tendai Kariwo

Board member

Tendai joined the Board in 2013 and is a Client Relations Manager at the Charities Aid Foundation, including portfolio management, business development, banking and finance solutions and fundraising.  She is also studying International Development at Cambridge University.  Tendai also has extensive experience in the banking sector.

Tendai has been a community champion, organising and delivering community events and has worked as a coach and mentor to young people.

Bruce Kerr

Board member

Bruce joined the Board in 2016 and sits on the New Business & Development Committee.  He has a wide range of experience in development, property management and facilities management and has held key posts in the Housing Association sector.

Gerhard Oberholzer

Board member

Gerhard joined the Board in 2017 and sits on the Audit & Finance Committee.

He is Director of GB Social Housing, a finance company to the social housing sector.  He is experienced in treasury, finance and asset management.


Jenny Raine

Audit & Finance Committee Chair

Jenny is Bursar at Newnham College, Cambridge, is a Chartered Accountant and has a background in health and social services.  She joined the Board in 2016 and is Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee.

Marie Canning

HR Director

Marie has held various key posts in HR and was appointed in November 2009.

She is responsible for developing and delivering the CHS Group HR strategy, ensuring it supports our business and social objectives, as well as reflecting the diversity among our employees and customers. She is also responsible for the CHS Group Health and Safety strategy.


Tony Blewitt

Tony Blewitt

Finance Director

Tony is an FCCA qualified accountant and an experienced Finance Director/CFO.

His extensive experience has been gained in a variety of sectors, including working for multi-national businesses and for over ten years for a large group within Social Housing.

During his career, in addition to leading on the core finance responsibilities such as Business Planning, Funding & Treasury Management and compliance, Tony has also been responsible for leading IT and Procurement functions and contributing to overall corporate strategy.



Peter Hall

Interim Operations Director

Peter has had a long career in housing management, asset management, IT and customer services, in senior roles at local authorities and housing associations, most recently as Director of Housing & Business Transformation for 11,000 homes across the West Country.  He also manages a business providing consultancy to landlords in business transformation and value for money. 

Peter was appointed interim Operations Director at CHS in January 2016
