Dunstan Court, an extra care scheme in Cambridge run by CHS Group, has been awarded a 5* Food Hygiene rating, following an unannounced inspection. This latest result means that CHS Group’s three residential care homes, three extra care schemes and two nurseries have all have been rated as having 5* kitchens.
Beryl Gillespie, Head of Older People’s Services at CHS Group, comments: “The ‘Scores on the Doors’ scheme is a valuable initiative which enables consumers to make informed decisions about where they eat. But, those living in residential care homes, or relying on community meals services, do not have a choice about where to eat. This means that we have an additional responsibility to provide our residents with the very best food, all prepared in a responsible and safe way. It’s fantastic that Dunstan Court has earned its 5* status, giving us a clean sweep of top food hygiene ratings across CHS Group’s portfolio of services.”
A resident at Dunstan Court commented: “I actually really look forward to my meals, they are really very nice.” Another tenant added: “There is plenty of choice available, I like that I can pick what I like at each mealtime.”
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is a partnership initiative between local authorities and the Food Standards Agency. The scheme provides consumers with information about hygiene standards in food premises at the time they were inspected. Inspections are carried out by local authority food safety officers to check compliance with legal requirements. The rating given reflects the inspection findings.
