Four CHS tenants attended the National Tenants Conference earlier this month and took part in a number of workshops and panel discussions.

Jane Bird, our Tenant Committee Chair and Trish Laver, our Scrutiny Panel Chair along with two other tenant volunteers, attended the two-day event in Coventry which this year focused on the new rules implemented by the Regulator of Social Housing. The topics discussed at the conference included making it easier for tenants to access their landlords’ performance information (Tenant Satisfaction Measures) and data, the impact of the new Complaints Handling Code for tenants and challenging the misconception of social housing tenants.

‘It was a great learning curve, and I was proud to promote CHS at the conference,’ said Jane Bird.  ‘Over the two days, I attended several workshops and took part in a fringe session where I talked about my experience of being a tenant volunteer.  When I first became a volunteer in 2015, there was an ‘us & them’ (tenants & CHS) culture but following changes to the way we now meet, including the introduction of workshops, we have seen a big improvement with tenants and CHS working together, building trust, sharing ideas, and listening to each other and tenants are very involved in improving services for tenants.’

Earlier this year, we launched our Customer Engagement strategy https://www.chsgroup.org.uk/housing/our-customer-engagement-strategy/ and we are committed to improving engagement with tenants and customers to deliver a shared vision and services that exceed expectations. If you would like to be involved, we have many ways for you to have your say and help improve our services for you and our local community.
